The Sessions Will Continue!
After the amazing positive feedback we received from the students attending our free Friday sessions, we have put all the necessary steps into place to secure the continuation of these sessions.
Funding for the free sessions has now run out but going forward these sessions will be charged at only £5 per session per student pay as you go and we will offer a discount for families with 3 or more members attending the session at once. Please ask an instructor for details about the family discount for the Kirk Hallam sessions or use the contact form on the homepage..
There will be a slightly later start time of 5:45pm starting 04/04/2025 and there will be no session on 18/04/2025 due to the school site being closed for Easter. After the easter closure the sessions will recommence as usual on 25/04/2024 at 5:45pm and will run weekly thereafter.
These sessions will be open to all and are suitable for both beginners and advanced students and all ages from 4 - 65 yrs.

On 02/03/2025 Spartan Element officially became 1 year old!
In that short time we have accumulated 27 licensed students, 40+ regularly attending students and many that just pop in now and again, achieved the CMAA Centre of Excellence Award, made the local papers when we publicly announced our participation in the knives down, gloves up movement, we attended multiple ICB fight events and even had our own fighters participate and win their matches, we were approached by a local secondary school to provide sessions for their students under a funding scheme and this has also been very successful and all this in just 12 months.
We aren't done there either, theres much more to come!

Gradings are quickly approaching.......
Saturday 8th March 2025 at Ilson Fight Unit.
Arrive from 10:30am to warm up & stretch
Grading begins at 11:00am
Grading fee is £20, payable on the day
Ensure your license is in date and bring it on the day
Arrange a pad holder (speak with your instructor if you need assistance with this)
Bring a water bottle
Last but not least, GOOD LUCK!

On the launch of our Kirk Hallam Community Academy 12 week programme, our message to the youth in our class was clear, Put the knives down, Get your gloves up!
We never expected the class to be so popular but following recent events in our home town, Ilkeston, where a local teenager was brutally and senselessly stabbed to death over the festive period we want to do our bit to help to get kids off the streets, out of gangs and into a hobby that will teach them self control, discipline and respect.
So, along with the Ilson Fight Unit boxing coaches we are spreading this message loud and clear by offering free training to our local youth to allow them to get a taste for the sport rather than knife crime!

From 10th January 2025 we will be running classes at Kirk Hallam Community Academy for 12 weeks.
These classes are open to all but will be completely free to KHCA students and £6 per session pay as you go for non KHCA students, with your first session being free.
The classes will be held in the Lakeside Hall, (6th form building on the right after you enter the main gates) at 5:30pm-6:30pm every Friday for 12 weeks with a view to continuing on a class at Kirk Hallam if these classes prove popular.
We will still be running our usual classes at Ilson Fight Unit, Tues and Thurs 8-9pm and Saturdays 11am-12pm.
We hope to see you at a asession soon.

What a fantastic grading.
On 07/12/2024 we held our first, in house 1st Dan, black belt grading. Aaron took his 1st Dan and did amazingly and achieved his goal. A huge congratulations to you Aaron!
Immediately following Aarons grading, we graded our coloured belt students and the results were handed out on 10/12/2024. Everyone did so well, tried their absolute best and deserved the passes they got. Well done to our Spartan Army!

Our next grading day is 07/12/2024.
This is an extra special grading because not only will many of our students be attempting to achieve their coloured belts, but this will also be a 1st Dan black belt grading day for some.
Black belts are designed to push our students past their limits and really test their mettle! A true test of their courage, discipline and commitment to excellence!

We are so very very proud to announce that we have worked towards, and met, all the requirements to become a CMAA Centre of excellence and all within a little over 6 months of the club being open.
We now have all the correct policies, systems and staff training in place to ensure the high standard of martial arts training and student care that you deserve.

New Class - You asked, We delivered!
We are adding a weekly open session on Thursdays from 11/07/2024.
Class times will now be:
Tuesdays 8pm - 9pm
Thursdays 8pm- 9pm (new from 11/07/24)
Saturdays 11am - 12pm

First Aid training!

Grading Day 08/06/2024.
Our first full grading day, we couldn't be happier with the turnout. Not too shabby for a new club that's only 3 months into their journey!
A big thank you to all that came, from our grading students, to the volunteer pad holders and even those who came to show their support.

The next grading will be held on 07/09/2024 at 12pm.
We will be running our session as usual on this date at 11am-12pm for our non grading students but graders are welcome to attend the session as usual to utilise the time to stretch, warm up and practice your syllabus.
All graders please ensure you have organised a pad holder for the grading day, this can be another student from Spartan, a parent, family member or friend, provided they have some pad holding experience. If you are having trouble organising a pad holder please speak with your instructor and they will make suitable arrangements for you.

Bronze Medal!!!
Well done to our Young Warrior, Oliver. He won Bronze in his recent JuJitsu Open. Oliver is a keen young athlete, training not only at Spartan Element, but also attending JuJitsu classes, Swimming classes and much more.

First Spartan Graders!
On 09/03/2024 two of our students attempted and achieved their Blue belt grading. We want to say a huge congratulations to our first club graders, father and son, Scott and Ryan who both achieved their blue belts. They put in a huge effort, worked really hard and truly deserved to achieve their next KYU.
